The Role of Teachers, Islamic Religious Education, the Character of Rahmatan Lil AlaminAbstract
Until now, the implementation of Islamic education has not been optimally implemented, because Islamic religious education is facing various problems. One of the problems is that Islamic religious education is facing a crisis of student behavior. As an effort to deal with this problem, the role of Islamic Religious Education teachers should be optimized, especially in developing the character of rahmatan lil alamin. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study type. The research data was collected using interview, observation and documentation techniques which were then analyzed using triangulation, data analysis techniques using Purposive Sampling techniques. The results of this study indicate that: 1). The role of Islamic Religious Education teachers in developing students' moderate character is very important, because the main task of Islamic Religious Education teachers is to educate, guide, and teach so that students can have a high tolerance attitude towards other religions, sufficient religious knowledge in the application of religious knowledge, Islamic art, and good morals in everyday life both at school and in society. 2). The role of Islamic Religious Education teachers in developing students' independent character is to strive for students to be able to learn independently and become the main moderator for other students in forming student independence, especially in the field of religion and other fields. 3). The role of Islamic Religious Education teachers greatly influences the development of the character of student unity. Islamic Religious Education teachers provide examples that even though they are not at Islamic events, we may provide assistance and be an audience when they have events, so that they still have a spirit of unity and vice versa. Islamic Religious Education teachers must provide more examples to students so that students are able to understand and imitate the teacher's behavior.
